Frequently asked questions
A unique person you sent at least one message to in a calendar month. Messaging the same person twenty times in a month is one active contact, and a contact you did not message that month is not billed at all. It is a measure of reach, not of volume.
The platform: routing across SMS, WhatsApp and RCS, delivery receipts, fallback between channels, the API and the dashboard. It does not cover what the carriers charge to deliver a message, which is passed through separately at cost.
The carrier rate we are charged is the rate you are charged. Sent does not mark up message delivery; the per-contact fee is how the platform is paid for. That is why the rate sheet below publishes per-country and per-network numbers rather than a single blended price.
Because carriers price termination very differently by market, and some markets have far more networks than others. The Sent Router table shows the cheapest available route into each destination, which is the rate the router will use unless a message needs a different channel.
It picks the cheapest available route that can deliver the message, and falls back to another channel or carrier when the first attempt fails. The saving is the difference between that and a fixed single-channel rate, which is what the estimator above lets you compare.
No. It uses published pass-through rates and a destination mix you supply, so it is a good indication of shape and order of magnitude. Real costs move with carrier network, provider availability and which fallback route a message actually takes. For a committed number, talk to sales.
Not to start. Pay as you go bills for the contacts you actually message. Enterprise agreements with a monthly minimum are available and usually buy better carrier rates and a formal SLA.
Some routes require a leased number, a short code or a registered sender, and those carry one-time setup and recurring lease fees that vary by country. They are not per-message, so they are listed in their own section of the rate sheet rather than folded into the estimate.
Carrier rates move continuously, so this page reads the pricing database rather than a copied list, and refreshes on a short window. The date under the rate sheet tells you when the figures on screen were loaded.
You are not charged a carrier fee for a message that was never delivered. Where fallback is enabled, a failed attempt on one channel is retried on another, and you are charged for the route that actually delivered.
